SALEM, OR— Bewilderment abounded at a local Salem coffee shop after a “well-known” social media influencer stopped by the cozy cafe.
Knockbox reporters asked shift lead Denise Goodman for an account of the shocking experience, she shrugged and shook her head. “We were just starting our normal closing duties. You know, making sure everything’s stocked and ready for tomorrow,” Goodman said, “when all of a sudden this woman wanders up to the counter. She looked a little lost so I asked if she had any questions about the menu.”
Witnesses say that when Goodman asked the question, they overheard the woman loudly proclaiming that she thought the shop was “sooo cute”, and that she couldn’t wait to take pictures for her “953 followers.” Next, she tilted her head and gave a look of deep thought. Everyone knew the fateful question that was coming next. “So, what’s good here?”
Goodman happily listed her favorite drinks, she told us. The beloved small batch cold brew, a dirty chai made with a locally-blended chai tea, and the current drink special which was a matcha latte with lavender. “I thought we’d done it,” Denise told us, incredulous, “I thought we’d won her over.”
That was when the woman did the unthinkable. Another barista, who chose to remain anonymous, witnessed the situation. He then told us that the influencer had nodded and said with an expectant smile, “Hmm, thank you. I’ll have a cortado.”
The staff of this cozy cafe are still recovering. Please consider adding an extra dollar to their tip jar today.
