MINNEAPOLIS, MN— Local barista Natalie Krueger has spent the last few months pondering the mystery of a regular customer who, for unknown reasons, continues to order lattes and augment them with cream from the condiment bar. Knockbox reporters hit the scene to investigate.
“The first time I saw him do it, I thought it was a mistake,” said Krueger, a career barista of six years. “Soon enough, I realized he was a regular—every day, sometimes twice a day, he would order a latte and adds cream.”
Krueger added that on one occasion, she’d seen him leave without adding cream, only to return a few minutes later and add it, chuckling that he knew he’d forgotten something.
After confirming the man’s peculiar habit, Krueger did a little investigating. “I asked him if he wanted to make his drink a little cooler—he shook his head, smiled, and said it was perfect. The next day, I asked him if he wanted to take a sip and I’d top it off for him with steamed milk. He just laughed.”
While the customer’s motives for adding cream to his lattes remains unclear, Krueger has decided to move on. However, we can’t let this one go so easily and will be staking out the situation over the next week. Stay tuned, this story is still developing.
