Pittsburgh Baristas Fired For Playing Alanis Morissette

PITTSBURGH, PA— This week at a high-volume university cafe, two baristas were fired after playing Alanis Morissette’s classic album “Jagged Little Pill,” during the mid-morning lull.

The altercation began when university professor Jill Redkin came over to complain about the music, which was playing at a moderate volume in the space.

“I asked them if it wasn’t a little angry for this time of morning,” she told reporters.

The barista she spoke to, Ed Stanton, was not the person who put on the album; nevertheless, he was enjoying the music and told her there were designated quiet areas on the second, third, and fifth floors of the multi-story building.

“I asked him to turn it off or I’d be lodging a complaint,” said Redkin.

He refused, telling her once again to go to the quiet area if she wanted quiet. By this point, his coworker Mary Sealy had become unable to hide her amusement at the altercation, making Redkin even angrier.

Just over an hour later, the two baristas were removed from the floor and called into a meeting with a university dining services representative and the owner of their shop, where they were fired.

The baristas told Knockbox reporters that they intend to file suit.

“Who the fuck doesn’t like Alanis Morissette?” asked Sealy. “It won’t hold up in court.”
