Coffee Cherries Only Moderately Delicious Compared to Coffee, Finds Devastated Barista

WICHITA, KS— Barista Sara Katz was devastated this morning after finally tasting coffee cherries for the first time and discovering that they are, in fact, only moderately delicious when compared to actual coffee.

At the time of the fateful tasting, Katz had been working in coffee for four years and wanted to taste actual dried coffee cherries, also known as cascara. “Coffee is the seed of a fruit. I love fruity coffees so I really wanted to taste the actual fruit those flavors come from. I just knew it would be delicious.”

But this morning, after working for months to acquire some of the sought-after cherries from a coffee roaster in another city, she finally tried them and found herself distraught at the results. “It tasted like a salty cranberry,” she told our reporters, wiping away fresh tears as she spoke.

When asked if this tempered her enthusiasm for coffee, she said, “I just don’t know if I’m going to be able to get excited about coffee anymore. Whatever the outcome, this is going to be a long healing process for me.”

At the time of publication, Katz has requested a week off and, according to an anonymous source, is not sure if she will return after her hiatus. What comes next for Katz? Only time will tell.
